Style Explorer

Take control of how styles are used in your Excel workbook

Overview

The Style Explorer shows where all styles are used in the workbook. It also shows the variants of styles: where a style is being used, but modified slightly, such as having bold or italic applied on top of the style. You can instantly see the pattern of usage of a style to check correctness.

Usage Scenarios

Check style usage

Find all the styles that are actually used in your workbook and ensure that they are being used in the correct places. You also want to ensure that you haven't forgotten to apply styles in required areas.

Steps:

  1. Define what styles you want to look for, using the selection criteria at the top of the form.

  2. The styles will populate.

  3. Click on a style to see where it is used.

  4. Navigate the usage tree or click on red cells in the map view to navigate to the cells that use the selected style.

Ensure style compliance

You have a specific set of styles that can be used in your workbook. Only styles in this list are allowed to be used. Styles that are NOT in this list should not be used. You want to check whether any styles that are NOT in the list are being used.

Steps:

  1. Select the specific styles

  2. Select 'are_not'

  3. Click 'Refresh'
